Armenia FM: Azerbaijan creates artificial obstacles for inhibiting signing of peace agreement

Azerbaijan is creating artificial obstacles for inhibiting the signing of the peace agreement. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, at a joint press conference in Tbilisi with his Georgian counterpart Wednesday.
The Armenian FM thanked the Georgian side for assisting in the normalization of Armenia’s relations with Azerbaijan.
Mirzoyan noted the importance of starting and continuing the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation process, adding that it is proceeding on the basis of the Almaty Declaration of 1991.
"We [i.e. Armenia] attach great importance to the continuation of the process. At the same time, the preparation of the peace agreement is going on; Armenia is in a very constructive mood here also. We hope and consider it realistic... and I myself have said that within a month it is possible, with intensive work, to complete the preparation and sign the peace agreement with Azerbaijan. I cannot say that the proposal received a positive response [by Azerbaijan]. On the contrary, we see new, artificial obstacles [by Azerbaijan] to inhibit the process. But we continue to believe that there is a truly historic opportunity for long-term peace in the region," said Mirzoyan.
Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev stated recently that a peace agreement with Armenia is possible only if the Armenian legislation is changed—and first of all, the constitution of Armenia.
