Some powers aim to arm Armenia to foster revanchism, separatism - state security service

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. Several power
centers in the world are currently interested in increasing
tensions in the region, including inciting revanchism and
separatism by arming Armenia, Head of the State Security Service of
Azerbaijan, chairman of the State Commission for Prisoners of War,
Hostages, and Missing Citizens Ali Naghiyev said during his speech
at the international conference on “Addressing the Issue of Missing
Persons: Upholding Families’ Right to Know the Truth,” Trend reports.
He noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan in the post-war period
advocated peace in the South Caucasus, living together on the
principles of good neighborliness, restoration of transport, and
economic ties.
“Apparently, such forces do not think about the bitter fate of
hundreds of thousands of people who died, became refugees,
internally displaced persons, and went missing as a result of the
armed conflicts that took place in this region and are currently
ongoing in the world.
At the same time, we seek mutually beneficial cooperation with
all states in socio-economic, political, humanitarian, and other
spheres following the norms and principles of international law.
Based on the same principles, the state of Azerbaijan is ready to
sign a peace treaty with Armenia as soon as possible. For this
purpose, official Yerevan should amend the Constitution and other
national legislative acts providing for territorial claims to
Azerbaijan. The peace treaty concluded today should completely
exclude the reintroduction of territorial claims.
The problem of missing persons, which is global not only for
Azerbaijan, should seriously concern the relevant international
organizations and international political circles. In particular,
the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross,
and other relevant agencies should pay attention to this issue,
take urgent and immediate measures to prevent enforced
disappearances,” he added.
Baku is hosting an international conference on “Addressing the
Issue of Missing Persons: Upholding Families’ Right to Know the
Truth”.
The event started with an address by President of the Republic
of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the conference,
which was read out by Ali Naghiyev, Head of the State Security
Service of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission for
Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Citizens.
Head of the Central Search Agency of the International Committee
of the Red Cross (ICRC) Florence Anselmo, Deputy Foreign Minister
of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev, Deputy Minister of
Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye Zafer
Tarikdaroglu and other officials are also taking part in the
event.
The event is taking place today in Baku and will continue
tomorrow in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
