People's Union for Liberation of Guadeloupe issues statement in Baku condemning human rights violations by France

The People's Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe (UPLG) issued a statement in Baku strongly condemning human rights violations in the French-controlled territories.

AzVision.az presents the statement:

“‘NO to threats and intimidation acts of the French police against the UPLG and its Secretary General!

The UPLG expressed its dissatisfaction regarding the arrest of Secretary General, Jean-Jacques Bisep, at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on October 23 upon his return from the UN headquarters in Geneva. The above-mentioned meeting focused on discussing cases of human rights violations in territories controlled by France.

This incident follows a previous attempt by the Secretary General to visit the UN headquarters in the United States, which was hampered due to an entry ban imposed on him after passing through Martinique.

The UPLG condemns these practices as human rights violations and declares to continue informing the international community about the ongoing situation in the country. The organization also demands recognition of its right to self-determination and national independence.

Like Delgres, Palermo, Massoto, Koudoux, Marth-Ros, Solitude, and other heroes who fought against slavery, we will continue our struggle until we achieve full freedom.

The UPLG calls upon the people of Guadeloupe and all patriotic and anti-colonial forces to condemn actions aimed at suppressing the voices of those who defend the rights to full sovereignty and independence.

Long live a free and independent Guadeloupe! We shall win!

Ali Meril

Deputy Secretary General of the People's Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe

Baku, October 25, 2024.”
