A new round of political consultations took place between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Serbia, focusing on the development of bilateral relations. The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, engaged in talks with the Serbian delegation headed by State Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Damjan Jović, the Ministry told APA.
The discussions revolved around reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as the current state of and prospects for development of relations between the two countries across political, economic, energy and humanitarian domains, including cooperation within international organizations. The consultations also touched upon strategic energy and transport projects implemented by Azerbaijan.
The sides noted that the upcoming session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), set to be held in Azerbaijan this November, will offer new opportunities for enhancing the existing strategic cooperation between the two countries. Emphasizing the importance of Azerbaijan-Serbian inter-parliamentary relations, they highlighted that reciprocal visits and the intensification of bilateral and multilateral contacts would be conducive in this regard.
The Azerbaijani delegation briefed their Serbian counterparts on the post-conflict situation in the region, Azerbaijan's steps towards establishing lasting peace, the mine problem in the liberated territories, and the large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects underway there.
The political consultations also featured the regional, international issues and other topics of common interest.
During his visit, Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev also met with other Serbian officials and participated in roundtable discussions with researchers and experts.
