CEC officially launches snap parliamentary elections [PHOTOS]

The Azerbaijan Central Election Commission (CEC) has hosted a meeting chaired by Mazahir Panahov, Azernews reports.

At the meeting, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov briefed the Commission members on the Presidential Order dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and announcing snap parliamentary elections. It was noted that the elections, as per the President's Order, are set for September 1, 2024.

During the meeting, the calendar plan was presented to the Commission members for discussion. Following the discussions, the calendar plan of main activities for holding snap parliamentary elections was approved.

The meeting also decided to establish an expert group operating under the CEC, consisting of 9 people, to investigate complaints about actions (inactions), as well as decisions violating the citizens' electoral rights.

Additionally, an expert group comprising nine individuals was established under the CEC to address complaints related to electoral rights violations.

Another working group, consisting of experts from relevant state institutions, was formed to review documents and information for deputy candidacy registration. The meeting, which garnered media attention, also addressed various current issues.
