Russia’s Dagestan announces 3-day mourning in connection with terrorist attacks

Mourning has been declared, from Monday to Wednesday, in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan, in connection with the gunmen attacks in Derbent and Makhachkala cities, and all entertainment events have been canceled in the republic, reports the press service of the administration of the head of Dagestan.
On these days of mourning, national flags will be flown throughout the territory of the republic. Cultural institutions and television and radio companies in Dagestan will cancel all their entertainment events and programs.
On Sunday evening, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan reported an attack on a synagogue and a church in Derbent, as well as an Orthodox church and a traffic police station in Makhachkala. An anti-terror operation mode has been introduced in these cities
According to the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, more than 15 policemen and several civilians were killed.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee announced the killing of five gunmen in Dagestan, and Melikov announced the killing of six bandits.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, 16 people—13 wounded policemen and three civilians—were taken to Makhachkala hospital. Information about the dead is being verified.
The Investigative Department of the Dagestan Investigative Committee has opened criminal cases under the "terrorist act" article of the Russian Criminal Code.
