Thanks to the initiatives carried out by the Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department (AZANS) of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, flights from Europe to Asia are safely conducted via alternative routes, which allows us to maintain a reliable air corridor in neighboring regions even under conditions of geopolitical tension, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said during his speech at the CANSO Global ATM Summit held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He stated that due to the provision of high-level air navigation services and its location at the intersection of the main air routes, transit transportation through Azerbaijan's airspace increased by 3.5 times from 2021, with approximately 18 thousand transit flights per month.
The airspace managed by AZANS is used by 209 different airspace companies, including almost all of the world's leading airlines, which is an indicator of confidence and trust in Azerbaijan's aviation capabilities.
"The noteworthy point is that the restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty over its land and airspace has enabled AZANS to control air traffic throughout the country's territory in a comprehensive manner. This significant development, the liberation of occupied territories not only increases the operational efficiency but also raises aviation safety standards within Azerbaijan's borders, ensuring comfortable and secure use for all airspace users and opening up new route possibilities," added the minister.
