Azerbaijani police detain drug dealers connected to Iran

Police officers are continuing intensive measures to prevent the illegal circulation of drugs in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs told APA.

Khatai Khaligov and his relative Afshin Salayev, who live in the Sim village of the district, were detained during the next event held by the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Astara district. Police have discovered 61 kilograms of marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances and 4 bank cards used in illegal drug trafficking from them and from the car driven by Khatai Khaligov. The investigations revealed that the detainees organized the smuggling of narcotics into Azerbaijan in collusion with the Iranian citizen, whose identity is under investigation, and obtained the marijuana in the area of Sim village. They planned to deliver those drugs to individuals for financial gain.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the fact, and preventive measures have been taken against the detained persons. Operative-investigative measures are being continued.
