According to Resolution No. 235 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 1, 2024, the 'Master Plan for the Development of the City of Kalbajar by 2040' has been approved, APA reports.

The concept of the Master Plan of the City of Kalbajar, which was destroyed as a result of the thirty-year Armenian occupation, was drawn up taking into account the pre-occupation situation, the terrain of the area, as well as historical-architectural traditions.

The Master Plan was prepared by experienced specialists of the Swiss company "sa partners," which is known for large-scale projects in urban planning, and the Baku State Design Institute, by order of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.

According to the Master Plan, the city of Kalbajar will cover the existing residential area and the nearby village of Boyagli.

Note that in the last Master Plan of the the area of city before the occupation (drawn up in 1969) was 130 ha, and the population was 7,500 people. According to the development concept, by 2040, these numbers will increase more than twice (an area of about 290 hectares, a population of 17,000 people).

In accordance with President Ilham Aliyev's task to transform Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur into green energy zones, the city's energy supply will be implemented by using renewable energy potential.
