Some 97,400 marriages registered in Uzbekistan in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The number of registered marriages in Uzbekistan from January to June 2024 was 97,400. According to the Uzbekistan Statistics Agency, this is 1,200 fewer than in the same period of last year but 21,800 more than in 2020.
Of these, 50,1 thousand marriages (51.4%) were registered in urban areas, and 47,300 (48.6%) in rural areas.
The average age of women entering marriage during this period was 22.9 years, and for men, it was 27.8 years. The largest share of marriages involves women under 25 years old, accounting for 76.2% of all marriages. The highest marriage rate was recorded in the Khorezm region (7.5 per mille) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (6.4 per mille), while the lowest was in Jizzakh (4.7 per mille) and Ferghana (4.8 per mille) regions.
By region, the highest percentage of marriages was noted in the Samarkand (10.5%), Kashkadarya (10.1%), Ferghana (10.0%), Tashkent (9.2%), and Surkhandarya (8.3%) regions. The lowest share of marriages was recorded in the Syrdarya (2.5%), Navoi (2.7%), Jizzakh (3.6%), Bukhara (6.0%) regions, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (6.6%).
The number of divorces in January-June 2024 was 22.5 thousand, which is 9.7 thousand more than in 2020. Of these, 13.8 thousand divorces (61.6%) were registered in urban areas and 8.6 thousand (38.4%) in rural areas.
The number of divorces among childless marriages was 10,479 cases, with one child – 6,616 cases, and with two or more children – 5,372 cases. The average age of divorced men was 37.1 years, and for women, it was 32.2 years. The largest share of divorces involves women under 35 years old, accounting for 64.1% of the total number.
The highest divorce rates by region were recorded in Tashkent (1.9 per mille) and Syrdarya region (1.7 per mille). The lowest divorce rates were observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Kashkadarya region (0.9 per mille), as well as in Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions (1.0 per mille each).
The highest percentage of divorces was in Tashkent (13.1%), Andijan region (10.6%), Ferghana region (10.5%), Tashkent region (10.2%), and Samarkand region (10.1%). The lowest share of divorces was recorded in Navoi (2.6%), Syrdarya (3.4%), Jizzakh (3.7%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (4.0%), and Khorezm region (4.4%).
