Uzbekistan and BYD sign a cooperation agreement within the framework of the Green Transport initiative
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – BYD, the world's leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles, has signed a cooperation agreement with the government of Uzbekistan under the Green Transport Initiative, supporting the transition to new energy vehicles in the country.
Under the agreement, BYD and the government of Uzbekistan will jointly promote regulations and certification policies for new energy vehicles, boosting the development of the entire NEV industry supply chain.
Tashkent will be positioned as a model city for clean transport, and knowledge about new energy vehicles will be widely disseminated in the Uzbek market.
The document was signed during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the BYD Uzbekistan plant in Jizzakh, where the first production electric car, BYD SONG PLUS DM-i CHAMPION, rolled off the assembly line.
The plant begins mass production of BYD new energy passenger cars for consumers in Uzbekistan, starting with the two best-selling BYD PHEV models and associated parts: BYD SONG PLUS DM-i CHAMPION (C-segment SUV) and BYD CHAZOR CHAMPION (sedan ). Both vehicles are equipped with BYD's innovative Super DM-i technology.
At the first stage, the production capacity of the enterprise will be up to 50,000 units of products per year. Cars produced at the BYD plant in Uzbekistan will also be exported to Central Asian countries.
Wang Chuanfu, Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of BYD, expressed deep satisfaction with the start of mass production of the two best-selling BYD PHEV models in Uzbekistan. He noted that this is a significant step forward in supporting the transition to new energy vehicles in the country and thanked President Mirziyoyev and other honored guests for participating in this important event.
The Green Transport Initiative cooperation agreement underscores BYD's commitment to sustainable innovation in the field of green mobility in Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that in March 2023, BYD presented its range of environmentally friendly passenger cars for the first time in Uzbekistan. Currently, the company has opened 18 official sales and service centers in the country and has supplied more than 15,000 units of new energy vehicles.
