Accident occurs at Ekibastuz GRES-1 power station in Kazakhstan

AKIPRESS.COM - An accident occurred at Ekibastuz GRES-1 thermal power station on June 28. Several power units were switched off at once, inbusiness.kz reports.
Power units No. 2, 3, 4, and 7 were shut down. The station reduced generation from 2,080 MW to 320 MW.
Currently, power units No. 2, 4, 8 are in operation. The station's generation capacity is 971 MW. Start-up operations are underway to turn on the remaining units.
The Committee for Nuclear and Energy Supervision and Control has launched an investigation into the violation at the station, the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan said.
There are currently no restrictions on the supply of electricity to consumers.
Ekibastuz GRES-1 is the largest thermal power station in Kazakhstan and one of the largest coal-fired thermal power stations in the world. It has a capacity of 3,500 MW.
