Armenia Security Council: Azerbaijan hasn’t responded to PM Pashinyan's proposal to create joint investigation mechanism

Azerbaijan has not responded to this day to the proposal of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to create a joint investigation mechanism. The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, told this to reporters.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Azerbaijan has been regularly disseminating reports that the Armenian Armed Forces are allegedly violating the ceasefire regime. The MoD of Armenia, however, dismisses these reports.
"Armenia, naturally, is worried about such reports because it is clear that no steps have been taken by the Armenian side towards escalation [of tension]; that is, there were no shootings. We are concerned that they are spreading such false news. As a solution to the problem, we have proposed to Azerbaijan to create a joint investigation mechanism between relevant departments; it can be the Investigative Committee, or another body. That way, we and the international community will have reliable information. Baku has not responded [to this proposal] to this day," said Grigoryan.
To the question whether Armenia's aforesaid proposal conflicts with the current EU monitoring mission in Armenia, the secretary of the Security Council responded that the functions are slightly different.
Grigoryan expressed confidence that the EU monitoring mission in Armenia and the proposed new mechanism do not conflict with each other because the EU mission does not have the authority to investigate border incidents.
According to the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, if Azerbaijan is interested in revealing the truth, it will consent to set up an investigative mechanism.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at meeting in Kapan city of Syunik Province on June 15 that he proposes to Azerbaijan to form a bilateral mechanism to investigate the violation of the ceasefire regime. And on June 22, the foreign ministry of Armenia reported that the office of the PM had submitted this proposal to the office of the Azerbaijan president—and through diplomatic channels.
