Media: Israel plans to use Starlink in case of a full-scale war with Hezbollah

Israel plans to use Ilon Musk's Starlink to maintain Internet connectivity in the event of a potential full-scale war with Lebanon's Hezbollah movement on the northern border that would cause power outages in Israel, according to Calcalist financial newspaper.According to the newspaper, the finance and communications ministries seek to utilize Starlink's 5,000 low-orbit satellites to provide a steady stream of data and information to government agencies during emergencies. In February, Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi authorized Starlink, the satellite division of SpaceX, to operate in Israel and the Gaza Strip, Reuters reported.Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant traveled to Washington on Sunday to discuss the next phase of the Gaza war and escalating hostilities on the border with Lebanon, where exchanges of fire with Hezbollah have heightened fears of a wider conflict.A full-scale war in the north could lead to rocket attacks on power grids and other Israeli infrastructure, media reports said.
