EU to earmark €15M to Armenia to address Karabakh refugees’ challenges

At Thursday's Cabinet session, the Armenian government approved the state and resilience strengthening funding agreement with the European Commission of the European Union (EU).
In the explanation of this decision, it is stated that the purpose of this funding agreement is to assist in the social and economic resilience of Armenia, in particular, to contribute to the Armenian government's policy of resolving the short- and medium-term problems of the refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as to enable their long-term socioeconomic integration in Armenia, also promoting the implementation of the EU economic and investment program in Armenia.
The project, with a total cost of 15 million euros, will be funded from the EU budget.
Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan noted that today they approved another project, according to which the EU will earmark 3 million euros more to Armenia, the purpose of which is to assist the Armenian government in the process of broader reforms, as well as the further socioeconomic inclusion of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, particularly in the implementation of healthcare, social protection, and employment strategies.
