Blocking of some media in Azerbaijan is violation of Convention for the Protection of Human Rights, ECtHR finds

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on Thursday ruled that the complete blocking of Radio Liberty and some other online media in Azerbaijan was a violation of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
According to the ECHR, this case concerns the decisions of the Azerbaijani government to completely block access to four online media outlets.
Azerbaijani courts had ruled to block access to these online media outlets on the grounds that some of the articles published on them contain allegedly illegal content under Azerbaijani media law.
The claimants had called this measure "extreme." Also, the ECHR obligated the Azerbaijani government to pay 6,000 euros in compensation to each claimant.
