Turkmenistan discloses number of domestic POS terminals

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 1. Turkmenistan
has 40,223 point-of-sale (POS) terminals as of August 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan shows that
the number of POS terminals slightly decreased with a difference of
3.84 percent compared to the beginning of 2024 (41,830 units).
Dayhanbank State Commercial Bank leads with the highest number
of POS terminals at 8,161 units. The Turkmenistan State Commercial
Bank follows with 7,668 POS terminals, and Halkbank Joint-Stock
Commercial Bank is third with 6,965 POS terminals.
Ashgabat has the most POS terminals with 13,177, followed by
Lebap with 6,841, and Mary with 6,433.



The Central Bank of Turkmenistan plays a vital role in the
country’s financial system, responsible for currency issuance,
monetary policy regulation, and overseeing foreign exchange
operations. Established in 1991, the bank actively implements the
national financial strategy and ensures the stability of the
payment system.
