Aghdam's cultural and historical heritage was transported to Armenia, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister says

“Aghdam’s rich cultural and historical heritage was destroyed, as well as transported to different places of Armenia,” said Farid Jafarov, the Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan at special session on “Impact of mines and unexploded ordnance on cultural property” held within framework of 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Aghdam city, APA reports.

“Currently, this city is the city of ruins. But now we are witnessing the return of life to Aghdam," he added.

Farid Jafarov touched on the topic of impact of landmines on cultural heritage: “We know that there is a special UNESCO convention on this. 110 million mines have been planted around the world, and unfortunately, Azerbaijan is at the top of this list. 67 people became victims of mines after the war. 1.5 million landmines were planted in Aghdam alone."
