Video footage capturing the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia is being widely circulated, APA reports.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico approached the people gathered in the area after leaving the government building.
The footage makes clear that gunfire is opened towards him from among crowd.
The shooter was arrested by the police.
Slovak media reports that said person is the famous Slovak writer Juraj Cintula.
The 71-year-old writer is noted to be one of the supporters of the opposition party Progressive Slovakia.
Prime Minister Fitso was wounded in the legs, abdomen and chest. He was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
His condition is said to be serious.
