Zelenskyy cancels visit to Portugal and Spain

krainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reportedly canceled trips to Portugal and Spain, which were scheduled to take place at the end of the week, APA reports citing Notícias ao Minuto.

The information was released by SIC Notícias and CNN Portugal, which also reported that the reason is the serious internal situation in Ukraine at the moment.

The Notícias ao Minuto contacted the Ministry of Defense, the office of the prime minister, and the presidency, all indicating that they had no information about the situation.

It should be recalled that, in September of last year, the President of Ukraine had also planned to make a visit to Portugal, which ended up being postponed.

It was the Minister of National Defense, Nuno Melo, who confirmed, this Tuesday, that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Portugal was "being prepared", without giving more details about the date or program of the trip, which would be the president's first to the country.

"The visit is being prepared with the reserve that it is supposed to have and we will see, very shortly, how everything will happen", said the Minister of Defense to journalists.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Portugal had been announced on Monday by SIC, which said that the Ukrainian head of state should also travel to Spain to sign bilateral security agreements.

Sources from the Spanish government told the Efe agency that Zelenskyy will visit the country "in the coming days" to sign an agreement with the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez.
