134,000 ha of Azerbaijan's liberated territories cleared of landmines and unexploded ordnance

"Until now, 134,000 hectares of liberated territories have been cleared of landmines and unexploded ordnance," Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov said at the Team Europe Mine Action Initiative event, APA reports.

"134,000 hectares of territories have been cleared. More than 119,000 mines and explosive ordnance have been found in these territories. 31,000 of them are anti-personnel landmines, and more than 67,000 unexploded ordnance were neutralized."

He underlined that the demining of the territories is necessary for the return of internally displaced persons."
