On May 20, the delegation led by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mierina, who is on a state visit to Azerbaijan, paid tribute to Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, the architect and founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan at the Alley of Honors, laid a wreath at his grave, APA reports.
The memory of Zarifa Aliyeva, the outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist and academician, lifelong companion of the Great Leader, was commemorated and flowers were laid on her grave.
The the guests who visited the Alley of Martyrs, commemorated Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country’s independence and territorial integrity and laid flowers on their graves. At the same time, a wreath was laid at the Eternal Flame monument.
The members of delegation then enjoyed a panoramic view of Baku as they were informed about the history of the Alley of Martyrs and the redevelopment works carried out in the city.
